Development of Central and Eastern European Samaritan Organisations

One important goal of the ASB Germany and SAMARITAN INTERNATIONAL is the strengthening of the Central and Eastern European Samaritan organisations.

In order to achieve this goal a programme is planned which is held over a period of several years.

The main priorities of this programme are:

  • Strengthening of the autonomy of the Samaritan organisations
  • Support of the anchoring of the Samaritan organisations in the civil society
  • Development of the networks between the Samaritan organisations

As a first step, study trips to all Central and Eastern Europen Samaritan organisations will be carried out in order to deepen the existing contacts and to analyse the structures and functions of the different organisations.

The study trips are being held by an external consultant and representatives of the foreign aid department of the ASB Germany at the following data:

28 February until 5 March: Lithuania / Russia

11 April until 16 April: Slowenia / Hungary

9 May until 14 May: Latvia / Poland

24 May until 26 May: Czech Republic

After having finished the study trips the ASB Germany plans to provide further training units for junior members of the staff of Samaritan organisations in cooperation with representatives from Central and Eastern Europe and ASB branches.

The first unit is scheduled to be held before the 4th SAINT Forum from 29 August until 1 September 2005.
