Since 1st October 2004, Eurostat provides free of charge access to a large amount of data on the EU Member States. Users can register on the Eurostat website and shortly download larger data tables or save data tables under their personal profile. Eurostat coordinates the European network of so-called European Statistical Data Support (ESDS) service units.
Member of this network is the EDS European Data Service. This service offers advice on European statistics in their native language and in English. The service provided is free of charge. The EDS European Data Service assists all users requiring harmonised statistical data to the European Union, the EU Member States, the euro-zone and other countries.
The EDS European Data Service is a service point of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany which helps all users to find relevant official European statistics. The service centre mainly provides statistics published by the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat). The EDS also offers a manual on the Eurostat Online Database with many useful tips on how to work with the data base.
