The volunteer work of "time donors" is besides the "money donors" an important element of civil commitment that gives the citizens the opportunity to determine and attempt to retain and improve their environment locally.

Thus, it is not surprising that all concepts for civil and disaster protection and many rescue services throughout the world are based on the assistance of volunteers. Neither is it an accident that the member organisations of SAMARITAN INTERNATIONAL are supported by many members, of which many work as volunteers in their organisation. Even the executive bodies are still marked by decision-makers working on an honorary basis.

Civil protection, in many ways also emergency rescue to patient transport and a large number of social services could not be realised without the assistance of volunteers.

Therefore, the work of volunteers is a significant element for the work of SAMARITAN INTERNATIONAL.

SAMARITAN INTERNATIONAL also attempts to strengthen this voluntary work through exchange programmes of volunteers between the member organisations.
